Ripping Off My Parents Ripoff

My parents got lured by the commercials on TV of this company. They are both in their 60's and called and made an appointment. A couple of hours later they were signing away $3000 and the promise of being able to buy all sorts of things for a lot less than in the stores. Things they were NOT told were that there is no way they will EVER buy enough stuff to make up the $3000 and also they were not told that they would have to find a way to get whatever they ordered home themselves! After they told me they did this on Saturday I did some checking into these scam artists and I called my Dad today to tell him what a mistake he made. Well they signed up on Saturday and they are not open Monday and Tuesday so I had him go to the bank and put stop payments on the three checks he had to write. Fortunately for him they didn't cash them yet. Now I know they will be calling so I am trying to figure out what his next step should be. Should he call them himself on Wednesday and tell them he changed his mind? He even admitted to me how much pressure they were putting on him and he just wanted to get out of there so he signed! I think he now realizes what a mistake he made!

By the way, we know a well known consumer reporter for the local Boston news and I told him if they give him any trouble to first say he will report them to the Better Business Bureau and have this reporter pay them a visit!
