Unfair Deal In Criminal Justice System

I have a friend that I think was given a unfair deal through the justice system that's suppose to help you. He hired 2 attorney's that wanted him to take a plea bargin just because the prosecuting attorney wanted to get rid of the case because the ex-wife kept calling several times daily on a bogus crime that she conjured up. She see's a physchirist and stated to her lawyer that my friend hit her and told them he said he was going to throw her in the river and she also made marks on her own body and mad it look like he hit her.

She takes several medications and the meds made her skin mark easily. She called the police on him after he went to bed and said he beat her and told "his" son who is 9 to tell the police that he hit her. They took him to jail and wouldn't let him make a phone call for 2 days. His family didn't even know he was in jail until after the 2 days. He got a lawyer to file for divorce and wanted nothing else to do with her because of this incident and other incidents.

They wouldn't let him file charges against her because she actually hit him in the face and tried to kick his private parts. He was just trying to keep her from hitting him again. Her word agianst his. After the incident they sat on the couch and watched tv like nothing happened and after awhile my friend and his son went to bed. She called the cops and they came and arrested him while he was asleep. She waited till they were in bed to call the police. The police said he couldn't file any charges on her because she was the one who called them first.

She filed terroristic charges on him about him saying he would throw her in the river. He was just angry because she was down grading him in front of his son. They were just words and he would never have thrown her in the river. She was a very controlling person and wouldn't let him and his son do anything together without her. She was like a drill sargent to his son and my friend. She has caused him mental anguish and mentally abused him and his son for four years. And now she's out to get him in any way she can. She is trying to ruin his life. He is now on probation for three years and has to check in with the probation officer weekly or monthly and has a felony on his record which he has never had anything on his record before. He is a truck driver and now he cannot go out of state so that means he has lost his job and lively hood.

Is there anything that can be done? His lawyers told him that he needed to take the plea bargin or he would go to jail for 6 years and possibly get off in one year. His chances were not good at all if he took it to a jury trial. This is so unfair that an innocent man felt he had no other choice than to take the plea. His lawyers told him not to tell the judge that they told him to take the plea. He has no money to fight for himself now that he has lost his job. She planned the whole thing and she started making notes of this soon after they were married and even told her brother of her scheem. When she left she took all the money they had. Please tell us what he can do to help himself. It seems the criminal system is not willing to help him at all. It is very unfair! How can our criminal system let this happen to innocent people?
