Deadbeat Dad, Hasn't seen kids in almost 10 years Ripoff Hanford

Edward John Vasquez owes $1000s in support and medical care for our two children. Though I have received sporadic checks over the past few years, he remains unwilling to support, or even see or speak to, his children.

When we first split up, I was unemployed and, at first, unable to find a job that would adequately support us, and I never received a dime. I worked hard and managed to triple my income w/i three years, at which point he could somehow afford a lawyer to get the support lowered, but I still did not receive a penny. He also paid a private investigator to investigate my finances, regularly stole mail from my mailbox and called my bank's telephone banking system to pose as me and track my income during this time. Far more egregious, he cancelled the children's health insurance without notifing me.

I remarried in '97, at which point he completely disappeared from my children's lives. He did file a CPS report that I was neglecting the kids he had not seen in three months, which I only learned of last week, as they found the report to be false. While he did that, I did everything in my power to keep them connected regardless of the money - inviting him to their birthday parties and school events, even obtained a court order requiring him to make a phone call once a week to them, which he of course never did.

He has since remarried as well, and has at least one more child. We still live in the same house as we did with him, with the same phone number, but the kids have received not a single card, letter or phone call. He has sent perhaps a quarter of the support owed, yet has dragged me to court to get the monthly amount lowered whenever the urge stuck. He works completely under the table, and I am certain any assets are in his wife's name.

Our son has some serious mental health issues, requiring weekly therapy since pre-K. He has not contributed a dime towards this either - while my husband and I have spent thousands/year for the past ten years.

He works in PR and politics. His "clients" should know who is the public face of their campaigns/companies/causes.
