Jim Walter Homes
Ripoff worthless warranty! 2 years and repairs have yet to be completed

Miscellaneous

Since our home was completed in 2003 we have had five... Thats correct, five floors installed in our home. And as I'm writing this we are in need of another floor. The problem you ask, well let me count the ways. It started when the home was being built. It sat in the rain with no roof for 2 months. Same problems a lot of other people are having, subpar workers and very little or no supervision. The sub-floor was buckling by the time the house was finally enclosed. This after having to have the rafters torn off and redone (the original roof was crooked).

Also the rear wall of the house had to be taken done it also was crooked.

Even after being told about and shown the subfloor the building supervisor assured us that the floor would be fine. After being in the home for four months the linoleum started to buckle so badly you literally could not take more than two steps without putting your foot down on a high spot (8" in some spots) or a soft spot. It took them 2 months to get this floor replaced. The next floor lasted about a month before it started to do the same thing. This situation has gone on now for two years. The latest rendition of the it's not our fault game is that the company thinks it's the underlayment that is causing the problem.

Nevermind that they have used two different flooring companies and several different installers. All using different types of underlayments. With the end result being the same, a roller coaster for a floor. The company has even had an engineer come check the floor... Still waiting on that report. But no one wants to make mention of the original complaint, the buckled subfloor.
