Paid item left behind was put back on the shelf

I made a purchase of 4 pairs of pants, a shirt (all for my 16 year old son), blackberries, celery, Glade air freshener, and Glade Air Wick, $56.00 worth of merchandise. I forgot my air freshener and air wick. I called the store the next morning; I had made the purchase the night before. I was told they had it, then put on hold, then told no, it was placed back on the shelf.

I asked, "Something that has been paid for, you put back on the shelf?" I was politely told yes, and I could come and get it with my receipt. I told her I had already searched for what I wanted, so why go and look for what I had paid for? Long story short, I returned all of the merchandise and had my card credited back.

Beware: if you make a purchase at Target and leave it, they will resell it. Wrong, wrong, double dipping.
