Staging products that are no longer in inventory. - Carpet

Last night, I went to Target to shop for carpet shampooers. I saw one I was interested in and decided to sleep on it. This morning I decided to go ahead and purchase it. It took me a long time, walking all over the store to find a store employee to help. When I said I wanted the shampooer, I was informed that it was a clearance item and there was none in inventory. No clearance sign, no tag saying it was on sale, clearance or otherwise. Why wasn't the product removed from the shelf if it was discontinued. So... Ok... I decided on another model. I was told none in inventory "and" all other stores were out! So the employee told me she bought a better model at K Mart for less money, that I should go there. So I did, guess what, I did get a better machine for about $50 less than I would have paid at Target. I got help immediately. I wasted a large part of my day... Never would have made the trip to Target if I had known what to expect.
