I thought that this was the company that obtains free annual credit reports for individuals once a year, so I provided my information right up to the point where I was asked for a credit card number. That got me reading the fine print. I saw that they would charge $1 (refundable) and then start about $30 per month for some service unless I specifically requested a cancellation. I did not give them my credit card number. I hope that giving my social security number to them didn't cause a problem: I hope it's just a scam, not fraud.
