I placed an order for Oliver Peoples sunglasses with prescription lenses on May 30. On June 2, my credit card was charged $557.94, and based on the information shown on the OpticsFast website, I was under the impression that I would be receiving my sunglasses in seven days or so. The only communication I received from OpticsFast regarding my order (other than the email confirming that my credit card had been charged) was an email stating that I would receive a tracking number as soon as the item had shipped.
It is now July 2, and I have not received my sunglasses. I contacted OpticsFast and was told by Becky that the frames are on back-order. A legitimate business does NOT charge a customer's credit card before an item has shipped, and definitely NOT when an item is out of stock, so I canceled the order. Becky then sent me an email stating that I will be charged a 20% "cancellation fee" for canceling the order. When I told her I do not agree to such a charge, she sent a snotty email stating that I do not have to agree and that they have the right to charge this fee because they will be stuck with these frames and lenses.
I am now in the process of filing a complaint with the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. Be forewarned - this company is NOT a legitimate business and will steal your money!
