1. On August 31, I phoned sales at OpticsFast for a quote on the replacement of a stem hinge for my Oakley Half X Sunglasses. I was quoted approximately $39. I agreed to the price, and sent the glasses to OpticsFast’s Brooklyn, NY facility.
2. I received an email from OpticsFast on September 13 noting their receipt of my glasses, and advising three to five business days for a final repair quote, followed by three to five days to fix and ship my item. I did not hear from OpticsFast from the receipt of the glasses in early September until I called them in early October.
3. The final quote given was $59, rather more than the $39 quoted over the phone. Nevertheless, I agreed to the repair.
4. I did not receive the glasses until October 17th – seven weeks after beginning the process.
5. OpticsFast did not replace the stem hinge as agreed and as billed. The old hinge was reused by jamming several wedges of metal into the stem to hold it in place. The stem was damaged beyond repair, and the frames were scratched. Tool marks are visible on both.
6. The glasses were ruined and cannot be worn.
