I had hughes net installed at my home with the promise that i would get a speed around 10mps... The charge would be 39.99 for the first three months and then 59.99 with "FREE" installation. Once it was installed I tested the speed and was barely getting 2... I have a very clear view so there is no reason for this... We contacted the installer and they said it was on our end... I take some college courses online and was unable to access most of my stuff so i contacted them and they said this is a common complaint. When i tried to cancel i found out they had charged me 353.98 and not the agreed upon amount... I have now spent several hours on the phone with them trying to get back my money and in the end I was overcharged for my month of service and it was not prorated as i cancelled before the thirty days. The 39.99 became 63.99... I was then told to ship back the equipment at which time it will be inspected and then i will be given the appropriate amount according to use of the equipment... So basically I am being overcharged for the few days of service, paying my own shipping and may get a refund on the balance... I now have excede services who did not overcharge and has given me the service promised... Stay away from Hughes, i am trying to dispute this with my bank as i did not at any time ok this charge, they could not even find the recording of me speaking to an agent and no where on my contract did it state anything. On top of that they wanted 100 dollars for the "free" installation... Someone needs to stop these people, they are no better than a common thief.
