I received an email for a $25,000 loan I never applied for. There was a contract attached to the email that requested $972 fee. I NEVER visited this website, nor did I request a loan.
I am concerned less informed individuals may fall for this scam.

Following is the email received:

Attention (removed my name),

It has been brought to our attention that you have applied or inquired for a financial loan within the last 10 months and we have the ability to aid and assist.

We are pleased to notify you that based on our analysis of your application and asset information you have been pre-approved for a $25,000usd loan. Your terms are as follows:

NAME: (my name)
CLIENT ACCT #: (deleted in case it is attached to my name/info)
LOAN AMOUNT: $25,000usd
INTEREST RATE %: 7.5
TERM: 180 months
MONTHLY: $231.75usd

Your loan approval is conditional and for security you will be required to confirm your identity and income before your loan can be funded. Based on the information you have provided you will also need to secure your loan before it can be released to you. Your options for securing your loan are as follows:

Option 1 – Co-Signer

If you choose the co-signer option, you will need to have them contact our office and quote your account number (deleted). An officer will take their application over the phone. Once your co-signer has been approved, both of you will be forwarded the legal documents to sign and return back to us. Your co-signer must have a credit score of 650 or higher and an annual income of at least $45,000.00. Please keep in mind that your co-signer must meet both requirements in order to be eligible.Co-signers who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be accepted.

Option 2 – Secure the loan against your home.

If you own your own home you may choose to use it as security for your loan. You will need to provide a recent appraisal of the property as well as documentation showing your ownership. For loans above $30,000.00 there are no fees. For loans below $30,000.00 there is a $250.00 non refundable application fee. The maximum loan to value (LTV) ratio is 70%. If you would like to take advantage of this option please contact our Customer Support Department and quote your account number (deleted) so you can be transferred to the appropriate department.

Option 3 – Security Deposit

You may put down a security deposit that amounts to 4 monthly payments totaling $927. This deposit will be held in trust for a period of 6 months, during which time your deposit will earn interest at a rate of 1.05%. You must make all of your payments on time and in full during the 6 month period in order to receive your deposit back. If you are not eligible to receive your deposit back within 12 months it will be refunded to you less any accrued interest. The legal documents for the security deposit option have been attached to this email.
