Miscellaneous

I had two guys, one named Doug Carter who has red hair kind of like a skater cut, 5'10", who said they just graduated from high school and that they are going around trying to win a trip to Italy by gaining points through their book sales. He claimed that the books I purchase will go to cancer patients who are children at the local hospital and that my purchase is for a non-profit and is 100% tax-deductible. I never thought I would fall for something like this but he knew his way to talk me into "donating" because he used cancer and children in the same sentence. He kept pushing for cash because he said they would get more points if it was cash and those points would get them a trip to Italy. I gave him cash and wrote a check for the difference. After they left I looked at the receipt so that I could start putting it aside for tax purposes. No where on it did it state that it was a non-profit organization. I emailed the company and they said that they cancel my order once I send in the receipts, but after now researching this type of incident it looks like I will not get my money back and I was scammed. I hope that karma gets to them and teaches them a lesson.
