I applied to Nicox for an administrative assistant position that was posted on a job search website. 5 days later (5/28), they asked me for an interview over email, offered me a work-at-home job, and then insisted on communicating with me over yahoo messenger. They shipped a check to me three days later (5/31) for almost $2,500 (said it was for office equipment) and told me to do an ATM deposit and let them know when I deposited it. They wanted me to cash the check right away to wire it via moneygram to their "preferred supplier" and I told them I couldn't because the funds wouldn't be immediately available.

I realized something was really wrong about the situation afterward and called the bank's fraud department, which said it was probably a wire transfer scheme (they couldn't cancel the check because it was already processed). I called every number "Nicox" gave me and none worked. I tried looking every address they had provided, from the one posted on the check, where it was mailed from, and the headquarters they listed, and all were fake. I am still waiting for the check to finish processing Monday (6/2) to figure out if this was a completely bunk check or some type of other scheme—filing a police report when the office opens tomorrow.

I'm positive this wasn't actually Nicox and someone is just using their name, but I wanted to post what happened/is happening to me in case someone is in a similar situation.
