Debit Card Shows $8,000 Overdraft After Activation

I called on my debit card today just to see what it would say. I activated my card about 5 days or so ago and it is telling me I am over drawn 8,000 something dollars and I have not used or done anything with my card nor account. I am very very upset and hurt and I don't feel that I should get into trouble about this situation and I know it's going to hurt my credit score I feel that Bank of America should be shut down and should have to give me a payment for emotional stress. I dont know what else to do I am in tears stressing over the whole situation. I sent them an email telling them what wrong and asked them to close my account and debit card.
