Bank of America
Bank of Americas charged me 45.00 for one cup of coffee

Business & Finance

I bought a cup of coffee worth $1.63 at a cafe using my Bank of America debit card. For as long as I had the card in my possession it would allow me to purchase items when there was money available in my checking account and would 'cancel" sale if my account was too low.

Since my B. Of A. Card permitted this particular coffee sale I assumed there was at least $1.63
available to use in my account. Then one week later I received a notice from Bank of America telling me I owed them $45.00 in overdraft for a purchase of $1.63 when my account was down to. 09 cents.

I tried to dispute this one charge, as I was new to Bank of America and had never overdrafted before, and I did not know that my card would fail me this one time since it had always permitted sales ONLY when there was enough money in my account to cover in the past.

Bank of America agents would not accomodate me and waive this first and only tiny mistake concerning only a few cents (for a cup of coffee), so I ended up having to pay $45.00 (plus the $1.63) for that one cup of coffee! I will never bank with Bank of America again.
