Miscellaneous

A Google search for Canon printer support returned a tech support number that I thought was for Canon but, as I realized later, was for a company called Info Tech Line. My problem had to do with a printer driver, but they diagnosed a major virus that infected the two computers on our home network, and I signed up for a $400 service to clean both computers. About an hour into the process, I became suspicious about the legitimacy of the service. I turned off both computers, to which I had ceded remote control to Info Tech Line. I then immediately cancelled my credit card so that the charge would not hit my account. I called Info Tech Line to let them them know of my suspicions of scam and they hung up on me. I also reported the incident to Canon, which is already already aware of the Info Tech Line scam.
