Ripoff! Scam! South Carolina

Gov. Grant company has been calling our home for about 5 days now. They are relentless! One day they called a total of 6 times!

The company claims that we qualify for a $8,000 Gov. Grant. The first time My husband spoke to someone they said that for a mere $250 paperwork/processing fee the money would be deposited into our acct. He said no thank you, and asked to removed from thier calling list.

Yesterday they called my home at 7:30 am. And again at 8:00am. I answered the 8:00 call. Once again the woman (strong middle eastern accent) tried to convince me that I was approved to recieve the $8,000 grant. I told her to take me off the calling list. She kept saying "I'll call you back later". I told her NO DON'T CALL ME LATER TAKE ME OFF THE LIST! She hung up on me.

They called again today.

Once again I tried to get more information from the telemarketer. She would not let me speak to a manager. The $250 fee was not mentioned in this phone call, just that if I would give her my checking acct. Number that $8,000 would be deposited into my account. I asked her why she couldn't sent me a check? She said because they can not assure that I would recieve it, because of theft, and the inconsistency of the postal service. I told her that the IRS manages to send me a check for my tax refund every year, and in 30 years I have never had one lost or stolen.

Big Surprise she refused! I asked to be taken off the list once again. I have no doubt that within a few hours I will be called again.

I have reported the phone harrasment to our local Police department, as well as the Chicago area FTC. The agent at the FTC is very helpful, but is also having trouble getting through to the company.

Please beware this company is a huge scam! Just in time for the holiday.
