Like the other complaints against Optima that I've seen on here, I too ordered the $4.95 starter kit around the New Year. There was no indication that I needed to cancel within a certain period of time or that I would be charged any more to my card. Today I opened my credit card bill and discovered a charge of $116.93 for the starter kit! I went on their website and saw that there were additional monthly cartridge refill charges planned at over $80 each! I called and waited on their customer service line for some time and I think that they choose the loudest, most annoying music to play so that you will hang up.
Once I got to talk to someone, he started trying to give me a spiel about how important it was to quit smoking and that he was an activist. I told him that I wasn't interested in this conversation and that his job was to meet my customer service needs (cancelling the account, not incurring any additional charges, and refund of the money for the starter kit and for the additional cartridges already sent and received). He just kept at it! Finally I was able to wrest a RMA# from him to return the cartridges but was told that the $116.93 charge would stand because I didn't cancel after the trial period of 15 days (which I was never notified of). I'm also supposed to get a tracking number on the package and call them to get the refund applied, why should I have to do all of the work? They screwed up and they need to ensure that the customer is satisfied with the resolution! I am not confident at all that they will not continue to charge my card. I'll be keeping my eye on them!
