At&t kept an account open after it was cancelled

Miscellaneous

In Feb. Of 2010 my husband had opened an account with Uverse.in October after his divorce and after he hadn't lived in his marital home with his ex wife since nov he had to pay the bill current because she hadn't been paying it and close the account on October 10 my husband called AT&T and cancelled service for that property. They never shut the service off and his ex wife never told Rick. So she rode it out and had free service for 6 months finally they disconnected her. Well she refused to pay the bill or return the equipment. AT&T at that point started sending notifications threatening collections on an account that had been closed on october 10 to an address my husband no longer lived. So basically AT&T kept an account opened which was unauthorized. My husband was sent to collections on dec 26 I received a ding on his credit report dropping his score 30 points. We are trying to buy a house!!! We have called AT&T over and over they give us the run around, are horribly rude and unhelpful! At one point my husband sent a letter to a false address At&t gave him. All AT&T calls are recorded we have the date and time of that call and all we have asked AT&T to do is pull it. Yet because they are such a big business they ignore. I won't ever use an AT&T product EVER again and neither will our families and we will pass it on, unless At&t makes this right.
