Unexpected 35 pound charge on Japanese watch with free delivery

A few months ago I ordered a watch from Japan for around 100 pounds, and unfortunately this website ships via FedEx. The watch was delivered in less than a week (about 5 days, I think), and I thought, "Wow, FedEx are the best postal service ever." Then a few weeks later I discovered why they were in fact the worst. I received a letter/invoice at my door informing me that I owed them money, roughly 35 pounds. At first I thought they had made a mistake because my watch included free delivery, so this must be an error.
The thing is that I am 17 years old, I am a student, I have no job, and I earn no money (my parents are also poor), and it took me ages to save up the money to buy this watch. I decided not to pay, as I was not informed of this charge when I bought the watch and I had made no agreement to pay it. After exchanging a few emails with some rather unhelpful customer service staff, I came to the conclusion that they are money hungry and do not care about you.
So I am here today to tell you that under no circumstances should you use FedEx, because they will take your money.
