Ripoff keeps charging me for services cancelled over 2 years ago

Internet & Web

I initially signed up for the "free trial" with the free disk. Little did I know that was going to lead to 4 years of dealing with AOL that keeps charging my account for services I don't even use. I got charged $300 bucks for a trip that I didn't sign up for. I got charged another $300 for some sort of vehicle emergency service that I once again did not sign up for. I did get these charges refunded, but only after I threw a fit and talked to 4 different people because I couldn't understand anyone. But the refund took more than a week to hit my account. They shut down my email account without telling me so I just decided to cancel all deals, accounts, etc with them. I have had nothing but trouble since.

I keep getting charges from AOL on my bank statement that I have not authorized them to take out, nor did I know they were coming out. Thank goodness I checked my bank account before I went out shopping when they took the $300 charges out! I sent a letter in December to cancel anything and everything that I thought I had already cancelled. I got charges again in January, so I called again. I got yet another foreigner that I could not understand. The charges were reversed, but of course you get the "we'll give you this, we'll give you that" speech to keep you as a customer.

I got everything cancelled, I thought, until March rolled around and I got charged again. I called once again, talked to yet another foreigner. Once again I get refunded and the speech. I thought I was through and done with them. Little did I know.

Today I was checking my account and saw that I have been getting charged for the last three months for a service that I thought had been cancelled and for a service I have never even used. I call, sit on hold for 20 minutes, and finally get someone in billing. She said I was still showing as active! She also said that I would be receiving something in the mail... What?!?! No! I want everything cancelled with you-save your speeches, save your b.S., I want my money back and I want to not ever have to call you people again. I was transferred to the cancellation department where I only had to sit on hold for 17 minutes this time. The guy in cancellations was trying his hardest to keep me at AOL.

Asked me all sorts of questions-what was I using AOL for, what am I using now, do I want to keep the email address for the low, low price of $4.95 a month... Yadda yadda yadda. It's none of his business what I was using it for, I have no computer at home now so I have no reason to have anything with them and I already have 3 (free) email accounts, do I really need another one? So I will be waiting patiently for the next 2 weeks for my refund.
We'll see.
