Hughesnet Satellite
FAP - "Fair Access Policy" - HughesNet 9000

Internet & Web

The HughesNet "Fair Access Policy" is not only NOT FAIR, but the status meter program either doesn't work properly or they are charging for time spent on computer - assuming they are recording megabytes and not kilobytes.
I am paying $79 per month when Cellcom, who has a bad reputation for internet access, only charges $49 - and their FAP system not only is not fair, but it incorrectly shows usage when no one is on the Internet!
In addition, I purchased my HughesNet equipment (Model 9000) so I would not have to be on contract, but they have designated (without my signature) a two-year contract. Now I know why... It is impossible to browse or publish my websites when I am constantly in the red for the FAP useage meter, which apparently either doesn't work. Their customer service sucks as well. For $79 I only get to use 350mb in a 24-hour period, which means from noon to noon next day. If you use the service between 3am and 9am (central time), the meter is not supposed to register because that time is free... Don't get trapped in this terrible Internet service, and the word "service" is even hypothetical.
