Packard Bell I am very disturbed by the poor performance of my PC, It has really cause my much grief

My computer has been continually freezing, causing me to have to shut down and start over repeatedly. It is now giving me a message that the mouse is not attached. After checking the connections, disconnecting everything and reconnecting it is still giving me the same message. I checked with my internet provider and the said that it was a problem with the computer. This is extremely frustrating to me because I just started a home business and I am unable to function without my PC. What should I do? Please Help! (The model# is 570, product# X5605, manufactured in 1988)
