Victims of their "restocking fee", read this! A solution! Fight back!

Internet & Web

To all have been taken by their "Restocking fee". It has been made clear to me that this "restocking" fee is a mask to hide the fact that they are indirectly passing merchant fees (among others) down to the customer. The money collected does NOT go to restocking the actual merchandise.

The merchant agreement says that the merchant cannot directly pass any of the extra fees accociated with the transaction. What merchants CAN do is subtract a restocking fee for returned merchandise THAT IS NOT DEFECTIVE. The money collected would go to restocking the actual merchandise.

Buyaib is charging the fee for EVERYTHING returned. So, what Buyaib does is they indirectly pass the merchant fees to the constomer by masking it as the "restocking" fee. They just call it "restocking" fee so they can get past the merchant agreement. The real convincer was the email they responded to when I asked them about it, they openly abmit it.

And now, the smoking gun.

The email reads

"Dear Customer,

Prior to purchas we list the following paragraph.

I accept responsibility of the online order charge (the total shown on this page), payable to Alpha International Business Inc., dba BUYAIB.com. I have read and accept the warranty and return policy. I understand is customer's
responsibility to return the product back to BUYAIB.com for exchange or refund. Shipping & handling fees are NOT refundable. 15% restocking fee will apply to all refund and credit. (Please check it to proceed)

If the merchandise is defective we will replace it! We charge a restocking fee for all REFUNDS regardless. We have to charge a restocking fee for refunds because it costs us money. The credit card companies get a percentage of the original sale and if the sale is credited we do not get that back! And then they charge us again for issuing you a credit. Yahoo also gets a percentage of the purchase. Not to mention shipping, packaging and handling. Thank you for your consideration."

You can change this!

You can file a Merchant Complaint with your bank that issued your credit card or debit card. Do not contact visa or mastercard directly. When you call your bank, ask to file a merchant complaint.in your complaint, explain Buyaib's shady business practice with the "restocking fee". Eventually, all your complaints will get back to the Mechant-Account-Issuing company. If they get enough complaints, then further action will be taken. At First, warnings will be issued, and if Buyaib doesn't change their ways, then the next time when Buyaib goes to renew their Merchant Account, then the Issuing company will not let Buyaib renew. At that time, Buyaib would not be able to accept credit cards, they loose sales big time, they go out of business.

Some of you may be thinking about chargebacks. Don't bother. Because this sort of thing doesn't qualify. Only merchant complaints can change this.
