Those restocking fees

I requested a condensate pump out of this merchant. It came in great purchase and was mounted (blocked in). Within 3 months the system had failed totally. I approached the organization and recommended them I'd return it. They charged me a substantial restocking charge about the damaged product. Why might they restock a device that's failed totally. I would recommend against by using this merchant via the web actually. These were completely uselss in customer support feigning ignorance and sticking with the "it is our plan" point. Their plan would be to cheat customers.
