We would like to express our complaint to you about a situation we just experienced with your company. We have been with earthlink for 5 or more years. Due to my husband being out of work because of some medical related problems, we fell behind on some bills earthlink being one of them and then for the first time disconnected from the internet.

One week later January 9 we became able to make a payment and pay whatever reconnection fees, which we paid over the phone with a debt card. They told my husband it would be 24 to 48 hours before it would be on again. The internet was on the next day for about 1 days and then was cut off again.

My husband called and spent another hour or so on the phone trying to get through to someone (by the way have you ever called to your customer service representatives from an outside line? You should try it. I would venture to say it's easier to reach the president of the United States.) trying to find out what was going on, they told him that because of the disconnection they had to turn it back off and send it through another office to be reconnected and it would be 5 to 7 days before it was back on.

My husband said to the person he was talking to that this was ridiculous, since it was all ready on and asked how long we were paid up thru and person told him, through the end of the month. He told them fine that at the end of the month they could cut it off because we were going to look for another service. Well the internet never did come back on, a week later we called back and spent another 45 minutes on the phone before we even got to speak to anyone then spent another 30 minutes of so while they tried to figure out what happened. After all of this, the outcome was the previous person took it upon themselves to cancel the service and did not place the reconnection order. So we are now being told it will take up to another 7 days to be reconnected.

So now that we are down to one more week left in the month. The internet service has not / and is still not on. We would like you to know that this is very bad business and we have paid a rate of $55.90 a month which is much higher than most services offer now days. We just didn't want to go thru the hassle of changing e-mails but thanks to your staff we will be forced to pay a much lower unlimited DSL rate, and receive the same if not more benefits that you've offered us.

So perhaps this should be a thank you letter instead of a complaint letter.
