Paypal, Russ J Posten ripoff fraudulent computer sale on ebay

I purchased an Apple G5 computer, 20" cinema display and assorted peripherals on ebay from Ross Posten in an auction for $2650. I paid through paypal. Posten couldn't ship because the item hadb't cleared paypal yet, and then he couldn't ship because the money wasn't transferred from his paypal account to his bank account. I smelled fraud and confronted hem. He promptly emailed me with 3 UPS tracking #'s.

When the packages arrived, another week delay, they consisted of a Apple G5 box, an Apple 20" cine, a display box a, d a plain corrugated carton, all properly weighted with sand. When I complained to paypal, they said that, since he had shipped something, it was amerchandise dispute and not thier problem. Ebay's response was even worse, telling me I had to wait 30 days to file a complaint. I have filed a complaint with the Spokane police (509-625-4100, complaint #03-400875) but to date have heard nothing!
