Ripoff Dishonest, Fraudulent Billing and NO Customer Service Policy

Internet & Web

I signed up for a month-long free trial in Jan and canceled it before the free trial period expired. Got my confirmation Number. S

Six months later, I found that I had been billing for the last 4 months. I called Customer Service and was told that someone reactivated my account in March, without my knowing about it. I had never used AOL since I canceled my free account in January. So, for the 4 months I had been billed for, I hadn't made a single connection to AOL. Their record also proved this.

I asked for a refund, and the Customer rep said "we don't refund for unused time." What kind of person in his sane mind would knowingly keep his account active for four months long, at a cost of over 20 dollars a month and do not use it at all? The reason I was able to detect this problem earlier was because the charges were made to a foreign credit card, for which I don't get written bills here in the States. And I hardly go online to check the account's status because I rarely use it.

If this were other companies, they'd be more sympathetic to my case and in most likelihood would have refunded me. The AOL rep said "No refund. That's our policy".

Some kind of policy to be proud of!!!

I even suspect that the Rep's explanation about my account having been reactivated could be some kind of rip-off. I erased AOL's connection software from my notebook right after I canceled my account. So, I have no idea who reactivated my acount.

People, beware of AOL. This is the most dishonest, money-grabbing, low-hand company I've ever dealt with. I'm not crying over the 100 dollars they stole from me. I can live without it. But the way they handle customer complaints and the policy they hold out as a shield against them is disgusting.
