Rip-off, will not help with CD-Key Issue

I bought a game from Direct 2 Drive, the game was activated through steam... Did not say this in the game description... The account was then activated to the wrong steam account (did not ask for confirmation to activate) and now I can't play the game... I would not have bought this game from Direct 2 Drive if I had known it would be activate through Steam... Why would I buy a game through one company only to download it from another???
