Hughesnet Internet Service
Fair Access Policy and fair business practices Sangudo, Canada

Internet & Web

I am a customer that is subject to this ridiculous so called "fair" access policy that Hughesnet forces on us. I think it's false advertising to say that they are providing unlimited internet when there's a cap on bandwidth. What Hughestnet is doing is nothing more than legalized blackmail by telling customers if they have repeated problems, they should consider upgrading to a more expensive level of internet service with a larger bandwidth. If it was a really fair policy, wouldn't everyone be subject to the same cap regardless of what they were paying?
Guess what? I did upgrade, it made no difference. My internet speed didn't increase at all, I am still running into the cap, and my bill has doubled from what it was. I have a feeling I am going to have problems with my internet until I have gotten to the top rung of internet service, but then again, that has a FAP cap on it too. For now I get to pay almost $150 a month for their version of highspeed unlimited internet for the privledge of being scared to watch streaming video or download anything because if I do, I'm sure to end up on dial up for 24 hours or until they take the restriction off - it's tended to last more than 24 hours in my experience.
Sadly, I am going to have to suck it up and put up with it because I live in rural Alberta, I have no phone line, and there's no wireless tower anywhere in the area. I can't believe what they are doing is even legal. I'd say they should be ashamed of themselves, but all the money we're paying for crappy service sure makes it easy to quiet their guilty conscious I'm sure. Satellite internet - what a joke!
