BEWARE of MATCH.com's subscription and payment cancellation process

Internet & Web

They got me twice.

Everything was great until I tried to cancel my subscription. I assumed this would include stopping the payments. Twice, in different years, I went through the "Subscription Cancellation" process on their web site. And twice they continued to bill me. The first time the economy was good and I was not watching my checking account as closely and they got away with about six months of payments. I probably called them and verbally cancelled my account. This time around, I am unemployed so I know I took care to only be subscribed for less than a month. I went through the subscription cancellation process within two weeks of starting the subscription and still I got charged a second month. So I went back and looked at my account and it had a status of Active. How, when I cancelled it!? I know I did! So I called them. I explained my situation to the attendant. I even described the screens for the cancellation process. He said the system would now allow him to refund the charge. I was nice and said that I would be following up on this because it is the second occurance and I asked it there was anyone else I could talk to. He said I could speak with his supervisor. After a couple minutes on hold he came back on and said his supervisor approved the refund. I guess their system needs a supervisor's approval to make a refund happen.

I don't know why this company would want to tarnish their name by doing business in this way. I guess they are thinking that once somebody leaves that they will never come back. Wrong thinking in my opinion. Needless to say, I will not be returning!

This is a good service but I would suggest to CALL TO HAVE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION AND PAYMENTS CANCELLED.
