Focus Publications
Howard Voyles are NOT to be trusted for Internet marketing services Colorado Springs

Internet & Web

ON 7/29/08 I contracted with Focus Publications to set up a create a website send out monthly newsletters to promote my mortgage services. This service included a web address & email services. I paid them $610 for the initial setup. I was charged the monthly fee of $210 in September and again in October.

Main Problems:
* They sent out the newsletter On August 5th, but did not send out newsletters in September or in October. I sent a email to the clients who were supposed to be receiving this news letter on 11/7 and received replies from SEVENTY THREE people indicating that they were NOT receiving this email. I'm happy to provide this proof to anyone.
* There were severe problems with the email. Quite often people would send me a message and get a response indicating that their message could not be delivered. The strange thing is that I actually did receive the email message they sent to me.in my business email communication is VITAL.
* Focus Publication's email server does not have very good spam filtering thus a lot of SPAM, Viruses, scams and other unwanted email gets through. Most email hosting services have much better filters.
* I received most email messages sent to me TWICE which is a nescience.
There were many other service related issues but for simplicity I think I've covered the main concerns.

I made several efforts to communicate the problems with the staff and Howard Voyles including emails sent on 8/6,8/ 27,9/3,9/15,10/6,10/9 & 10/27. Additionally I placed a number of phone calls in effort to obtain technical support. Support was unresponsive and poor.

Finally I'd had enough and requested to cancel the service and have my web domain & email address released to me. The response was HOSTILE. I was told that they would continue to charge my credit card for $210 and if I stopped paying they would turn me over to collections. They refused to release my domain and email address to me.

I let things cool down a bit and asked again for the release of my domain. Mr. Voyles basically had my hands tied and knew it. He demanded $630 from me to release my domain to me. I paid him the outrageous sum on November 7th and requested that he transfer my web domain & email address to my new service and it took several emails and two weeks to finally release the domain to me. This is a 5 minute task at the most.

What makes things even worse is that their server failed during this time and I was without email for the better part of two weeks. Numerous emails sent to me by clients and prospects never got to me because they did not have disaster recovery or redundant systems common in this industry. I'm confident that not getting my email will have cost me thousands of dollars of business.

In summary I paid $1,960 to Focus Publications and the benefit I received was ONE emailed newsletter and a lot of grief.
