Anti virus rip off

Internet & Web

I was searching online for a free download of anti virus software. I came across several that offered this but on further investigation each one of them asked for a payment. I gave up and decided to pay for one and when I got to this website it offered 3 years cover for 9.99. I thought that was reasonable.

When I entered my credit card details it then thanked me for my payment of 36.66!!! I was amazed and upset by this and then I logged in to find that it offered me several free trials lasting about 15 days, of several well known anti virus software companies. The credit card bill shows 37.67 as they added a further commission charge.

On their FAQ section they even point out "I thought this was a free download so why have I been charged". The answer is that you are charged for membership of the site and not for the download. They also quickly point out that they don't give refunds and if you do qualify for any kind of refund then you have to pay to receive it.

They don't answer when you e-mail them. All I actually go out of this was a free 15 day trial of Norton anti virus.
