Trend Micro
Digital River Paid for anti-virus program then had to pay to get it on a CD

Internet & Web

I needed anti-virus software for my laptop and when i bought it originally it had Trend Micro Anti-virus on it, when it came time to renew they said because I had Windows Vista, I had to download an upgrade which would have taken 10 or 12 hours with a dial-up connection. I sent them an e-mail that I couldn't tie up my phone for that long could I get a refund or get the program on CD, they said I could get it on CD for another $11.95, so I purchased the CD. It even came with my name and date on the CD. I loaded it on my computer and at the end it said check for updates and when I did it was a 10 or 11 hour download but I was getting frustrated but I decided to try to download it anyway. Tried 5 or 6 times and after 10 minutes of downloading each time I got blue screen of death. Even after I stopped trying to make the download, I would still the blue screen after 15 or 20 minutes.

I finally got smart and removed the anti-virus and my computer has worked fine ever since. I lost over $50 and learned a lesson. From now on I will buy my software in a store not on the internet.
