If you need satellite internet and want PAIN, real unbelievable hear-tearing Pain, get Hughes. The neighbors had it but by the time I installed it they had stopped theirs. After setting it up the technician asked me to set up my own e-mail - he does not have time, it takes too long... Asked him what he thought of the service he said he does not have this service... Kept avoiding the answer That set off the alarm bells, but too late.

Next morning spent almost an hour with India I think, getting the system back up. I have most of the troubleshooting call references but to make it short it seemed like every time the wind blows, a storm hits, a lightening occurs, or a power blip happens or a deer sneezes the system was down and I spent on the average 45 minutes to an hour talking to some person in India or other overseas call center while they tried to download the satellite programming again.

After 2 weeks of almost constant problems (I mean down every day or second day) I ordered upgraded service to get the stronger connection but they could not get it operating. So I cancelled thinking I would get my money back if cancelled within 30 days as per contract. Even though it never worked properly they insisted on keeping the installation fee of over $200.

When I cancelled the Visa charge and filed a Visa dispute Hughes gave it to a collection agency so I had to settle instead of risking to ruin my credit. You can not talk to anyone reasonable since they are mostly of different culture, where customer satisfaction seems secondary and the primary emphasis is getting your money. Try it if you like PAIN, Frustration and more PAIN...
