Fraudulent charges, difficult to impossible cancellation

Internet & Web

Last year I made the mistake of signing up for a free trial of stamps.com through a survey site. I called customer service and canceled my account after attempting to do so through email and being told that I couldn't. However, the following month a charge appeared on my debit card for a service fee. I notified my bank, and they gave me a refund and stopped authorization for these charges.

Every month from October-January I received emails stating that "There was a problem with my service fee payment." They tried to charge me every month and now it has added up to $79.95! I called them AGAIN and finally got another set of cancellation emails. I was being charged for a service that I have NEVER used. On this

They state that you can get a refund for unused postage but make sure to add the loophole that is only for current customers. Apparently they still considered me a current customer even though I tried multiple times to cancel my account and had been told that it was canceled! Why should I have to pay for something that I would get a refund for anyway?

Now I have been reported to a collection agency which is very difficult to deal with, and I feel sets people up for failure! They sent me a letter, and I called them to let them know that this debt is illegitimate. They asked me to put it in writing, which I did. Then I got another letter stating that the deadline to pay or dispute the debt has passed. I called the agency again, and they told me that they had received my letter and the letters they sent out were automated. So you would think this is the end... NO!

I received another letter stating that I had ignored or refused a legitimate debt and that Stamps.com INSISTED that I pay for this. I tried to call the credit agency back, and once I put in my PIN number I got a recording saying "You have used up all your phone attempts." and that all correspondence had to be in writing. This is completely unfair, since one of the allocated phone attempts was my attempting to resolve a letter that I got in error stating that I had not contacted them! Why should I continue to mail or fax in correspondence that may as well be going into a black hole? How am I supposed to ensure that they have received my letters if I am blocked from speaking to them on the phone? This is completely wrong and now I am afraid that this will negatively impact my credit score.
