ComputerDoctor / Applied Data Computer Doctor... Total rip off. Could have done it myself!

I looked in the phone book to research someone to help me fix my computer. I called upon the Computer Doctor which makes house calls. Convient yes, but EXPENSIVE.

The guy on the phone stated that it should take up to NO MORE than 2 hours and he charged $40 every half hour, basically $80 an hour. He said his rates were the best in town, maybe the town in his head but I am sure if I would have researched more I could have found someone cheaper.

So he arrives in what he calls the window time of the appt. Not the time we set it for. He gets here and says either he can fix it a bit or we could wipe the drive clean and start all over. I can do a restore and repair myself so I tell him I can just go get an external drive no worries since the one I had did not work. He pretended to ignore what I said.

He had an 8 GB memory stick with him so we used that which took forever. Which while "I" worked on my computer he sat down on my day sofa and just chilled. I am glad he was comfortable while I was working on my computer. If this is going to be a joint effort maybe he should have charged $40 an hour.

After the computer is all clean he puts on some anti virus stuff which he stupidly says that it is free I can get it anywhere. I am thinking well cool, I am paying for him to put free stuff on my computer. Then after 4 hours he asked is there anything else. HECK NO!

He tells me he is going to round down the time to 4 hours. Um, it was exactly 4 hours there was no rounding down. Then I am thinking he is going to work with me seeing that it was 4 hours of nothing and he says $320. Seems he forgot about the chat saying if it went over 2 hours. So I write him a check for money I don't have and tell him not to cash it till Wednesday.

So in conclusion unless your computer is not working AT ALL, this is an awful service and I do not see how they have been in business for so long. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
