Extortion; they make you pay to ask question about "out of warranty" printer part you want to buy...
I am the not-so-proud owner of an HP R80 Four-In-One Printer, which I purchased from this monolithic bureaucracy not two years ago. When the fax function stopped working right after we had a power surge, I figured perhaps some circuitry had been damaged.
Since the local "authorized HP repair centers" wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars just to LOOK at my printer, I decided to replace the phone jack cartridge, in the back of the printer, on the chance it was what was damaged. The online price for this part is $44.00 plus s&h.
I figured before droppping money on this part I would call sales support to make sure I was on the right track. I was told by a lower-level worker-drone that in order to find out what the part I was about to BUY did, I would have to pay $25 to speak with a tech support person because my printer is now out of warranty.
I want a sales job like that: people have to pay me just to talk about the product I'm trying to sell them, then pay me AGAIN to get it!
Gimme a break!!
