Refuses To Close Accounts Of Unsatisfied Sellers multiple invalid excuses, hours on "live help" fruitless

After numerous concerns with eBay regarding fraud, access to personal information and bias against sellers, I have decided to close my account. When I follow the procedures outlined to close the account, I am given an error message that is inaccurate. I have emailed eBay at least 7 times and used their online chat "live help" feature and been online with them for over 2 hours only to receive multiple excuses as to why they can't close my account, none of them valid by their own admission. These invalid excuses include:
1. That my account has open listings (it doesn't).
2. That my account has open half.com listings (it doesn't).
3. That my account is suspended (it's not).
4. That there's a "glitch" (there isn't... I was able to close a separate account within 2 minutes with no problem).
I feel this is an attempt to keep my personal information available to them for fraudulent purposes and it's unacceptable. They need to close my account immediately.
