I want to close my checking account ripoff

I told the banker i am here to close my checking account.
Can you close it?
He said yes pay $ and it will be closed.
I said i am here to close it now.
Can you close it now.
He said yes.
I said i am giving you the $ close it now. It must close now.
I gave him the $
he said your account is closed.
Two weeks later the account was still open.
I told him clearly the transaction was simply to close
the account.
The account was not closed and they are fining me about
$20 each day! Now.
