Misleading promos and huge early termination fee

I had no choice at the time but to sign up with hughes net / Directway. It was the only option to dial up I had. I was never happy with the service or cost. Cable was recently made available to me so I switched over to our cable
service... Much faster, much better and less $. I called to cancel my Hughes Net and was informed that I signed a 24 month commitment! I was never made aware of this verbally. I'm sure it was in the "Very Fine" print! My early termination fee is $300!! I'm going to contact corporate directly and pitch a bitch. Not sure I'll get anywhere with them but it will make me feel better. Do not do business with these crooks... Ever!!! They lie... Cheat and steal!
