AT&T Laptop Card Scam

Around March 1st my DSL box quit working right. I would have to re-boot it every day to get it to work at all. AT&T refused to send me a new one. So, they offered me a wireless laptop card "for free" which I felt would be better to have high speed internet service anywhere I was. I was told I would be charged $100.00 but I would get a $100.00 gift card in the mail so the card would be FREE! I was told this card would give me faster internet service than my DSL box. I got the card and it was awful! It is slower than the old dial up service from yester-year. It's so slow it won't even run video's on the internet.
I just got my first bill yesterday, 45 days later. It's a combined bill now with my land line. I use to pay $150.00 total each month for a landline, fax line, cell phone service and my DSL. My new bill was $510.00!!! After picking myself up off the floor, I called and was on the phone with them for hours! They cancelled the card for me but I still owe the $510.00. I said, "For What? I have had no DSL for 45 days, no highspeed internet, the card doesn't work high speed as promised, I never got a gift card for $100.00.
Everything I was told is lies. I never got anything in writing warning me of all these charges to start the card and I was never warned on the phone. I never signed a contract. The operator told me that when I accepted the card, that was in essense accepting the contract. What contract? I have been ripped off royally and now I have to pay this bill. As soon as my cell contract is up for renewal I will leave AT&T and advise anyone reading this to never ever use AT&T for anything. Signed: Upset in Sacramento
