NETZERO ripoff Do NOT deal with NETZERO When you cancell after 1 year they keep billing you and lie

My contract ended with NETZERO the end of December 06. I e-mailed them a week before the contract expired that I would not be renewing. Fact is, the site is super slow and it takes for ever to load. They kept sending me renewel e-mails, after I answered 2 of them I quit. Thought nothing more of it.

I went on to a DSL hookup with a friend who networked all 15 of his computers and added me on as a favor. Works GREAT! That was in January. Now here we are in August and guess what? I get a bill from a COLLECTION AGENCY saying I own deadbeat NETZERO $29.95 for January services. Now get this one... They turned me OFF in December the exact day that my contract expired. I was with no internet for a couple days until my friend got down here to hook me up and set the computer numbers and such. I e-mailed them saying that this is a mistake, that I had no internet in January because I had no contract and they TURNED IT OFF. Their answer was they turned me off because I did not pay my contract. What contract?

I e-mailed them again saying that I never signed on for another contract, so how can you bill me. I also stated that I sent 2 e-mails saying that I was not going to renew their slow service. Their answer... Well you must SEND US A WRITTEN STATEMENT that you are not going to renew. We do not accept e-mails. You AGREED to that when you checked off the box saying that you read everything when you signed up. Beautiful scam. They don't accepts e-mails for business unless it's to sign up for their slow service.

These people are really scummy, and like so many on the internet, not to be trusted. Everytime I see the head crook on the TV, I want to slam the TV. Well I paid them because they made no bones about it, they will put a mark on my credit report. But I'm getting my moneys worth. I own my own business and I talk to every customer that I can and if they are into the internet I tell to stay away from NETZERO. Matter of fact I already stopped one person from signing up with them, and I will continue. Their name says it all... Zero!
