Paypal And Don/Maggie Sherman Sold me bad drive via Ebay and paypal will not refund my money

Internet & Web

I have purchased a defective drive via Ebay Don Sherman that he removed by force from an Apple computer. After purchasing this drive I had to resell it because it was not exactly what I was looking for. Also I emailed the seller several times attempting to withdraw my bid but was deliberately ignored. He would have lost only 50 cents accepting the next lower bid.

I visited my buyer on a trip to Columbus to determine what the issue was with the drive and found that Don Sherman had physically abused the drive upon removal, tearing a component off the drive's electronics module. My buyer simply layed the drive next to his computer in an attempt to load the OS.

Paypal sided with the seller although the drive was not as advertised. It was claimed as a working device and I have been RIPPED OFF. He tried to claim it was damaged in shipping but that's not possible due to the nature of the damage.

The seller in his ad claims "buy from me in confidence" and has a smug attitude in the reply below in response to this issue. I do not care how many times he formatted the drive. When it was removed he physically damaged it:
DON Sherman and PAYPAL ripped me off!

Hey there,

I recently purchased this 160GB drive from you on ebay and promptly resold it without so much as opening the box it was shipped in. The buyer claims it's DOA and I need to return it if it indeed is DOA. I'm waiting for it to be returned for inspection.

I can assure you that I personally 7X-erased the drive before mailing it to you, using Apple Tiger Disc Utility. This would not have been possible if the drive was defective, as the security process writes over and erases the entire drive seven times!

As I said in my ad, I had been using the drive as my boot drive, without difficulty, right up to the point I prepared it as described above and removed it to mail it to you. As you would have seen if you had opened the package, it was very thoroughly insulated using original manufacturers' packing. All of the promised accessories were included.

I can not comment on the relationship between you and your customer, of course, but I might offer just a suggestion that possibly your customer does not know that a hard drive has to be initialized for the operating system on which it will be used. This is very easily and routinely done on Macintosh and Windows computers, but possibly your customer is inexperienced in this? (BTW, the Seagate Barracuda drive has been included by the millions as original equipment on new computers of both platforms.)

Also, did you know it can be used inside the computer or as an external hard drive? External drives are great for backup and/or expanding the usually limited storage capacity of laptops!
