Dishonest and fraudulent billing practices consumer fraud ripoff

Internet & Web

AOL claims that in Nov. 2001 I changed my monthly billing to hourly. At the time my computer was being repaired, and I didn't do it. Never mind that my account was 4 years old and that changing it to hourly ran up a bill to $108.52. After 4 months of problems, I finally talked to someone on 3-8-02 who understood my frustration. She gave me 2 free months and said my regular payment of $23.90 would start on June 1.

She sent me a confirmation email that I have faxed and mailed to them. All of a sudden around the end of June 20th, it says that I had a billing problem-outstanding balance of $168. Oo.

That got taken down to $65.62. But now they won't send me anything like an itemized bill which I have always requested. They don't even know how to get one. Thank god I had lost my debit card, or they would have taken out $168!!! I will pay the $23.90—but that is it!
