$4,000 Dell computer would not even load BIOS. Serivce was atrocious. Ripoff

Dell Computer Corporation spends a huge amount on advertising, thereby entrapping many poor consumers like myself.

I bought a high-end Dell computer (XPS 600). Most of the time it would not even load the BIOS. When it did, programs froze. When I used to end frozen task, they did not un-freeze, but additional copies of the frozen program were replicated. This expensive piece of Dell hardware was sheer junk.

For owners of the high-end XPS system, Dell promises expedied customer service. It is expedited only in the sense that you are not put on hold for hours and hours as for service on lower-end computers. But the service you connect to (with relative ease) is beyond being terrible.

There are four major problems with the service that I used to try to get my XPS 600 working. Service is outsourced to India or Pakistan.

First, they spoke very poor English and were extremely difficult to understand.

Second, they did not understand your English.

Third, everyone you talked to gave you a different explanation. I think they were reading from scripts rather than trying to resolve your problems from their base of knowledge and experience.

Fourth, the telephone network in India or Pakistan kept dropping me. A technical service person admitted that they were having long-standing telephone problems at their end.

I returned the entire package of junk back to Dell. Curiously, the UPS man who picked up the junk told me: "UPS makes a lot of money from Dell. They send out new computers to customers and a few days later the customers sent them back to Dell."
