Manay Software
Ripoff freeware comes with big cost, commitment and gotcha burns. Terms of agreement is legal quicksand

Internet & Web

I found the Manay free cd set offer site and elected to send for the set and pay $4.95 s&h. I scrolled thru the terms of agreement but did not read the 11,000 word document assuming it was a basic software disclosure. I clicked I agree to terms and there the nightmare begins.

Apparently, somewhere near the 17th paragraph, the terms sign you up for unlimited cds mailed to your home at a cost of $19.95 each. Also, the free cd set you send for is not 4 cds as shown. They send you 4 but only 2 are free. If you don't send back two of them, they will charge you $19.95 each. The 10 day trial that was not evident on the website began and ended before you ever receive the discs so you have to pay for the other two even if you send them back. Their claim is valid since you signed the terms of agreement.

All disputes are for naught since you clicked you agreed to terms. Let the buyer beware. I received the discs yesterday and the charges are on my account today. I submitted to cancel and they advised since the 10 day trial was past that I need do nothing, the complete 4 cd set was mine to keep. Even at this stage they have not informed me that they had charged my account. I know they have only because I checked and the charge is not disputable. I agreed to terms. Gotcha.

It is all very deceptive and misleading. If nothing else, I have purchased $40.00 worth of wisdom about putting my credit card out there for a less than honest business.

I am afraid to install the cds onto my computer because there is a warning on the package states to please read the license agreement and terms of use before installing. Do I really have time to read that word for word before I install? And if I do not. What am I agreeing to when I do install? It is just not worth the risk.

Let all who read this be aware that by clicking that you agree to the terms, you are accepting the company's right to bind you to any agreement even if it hidden in any manner. They have you and you can only scream to the top of your lungs that it is unfair and rude and wrong. Word of mouth is all you have and websites like the consumer complaints to sound off in and share the expensive knowledge, free of charge, of course.
