Hi,
After 2 years my Dell 8000 Inspiron laptop crashed. This laptop rarely used, only when travelling abroad. The adapter become overheated, all the time when starting it I could sense some sticking sensations in my hands while touching it. After a while when using the laptop one day 3 months agoe my laptop crashed. I called for Dell tech support online but nothing helped. We went trough the problem solving program.
They told me to look on line for something called Dell Adapter Program. I did and found out in a Dell warning to customers that the Adapter that come with the laptop when I bought my 8000 Inspiron is causing hazardus risks of elchocks. About 960.000 milion owners of different Laptops with this hazardous adapter was offered a new adapter... I recieved my new adapter a few weeks agoe. But still the computer didnt show any life. A local tech telled me on the phone that the old adapter have distroyed the motherboard...
Contacting Dells Customerservice was a plain nightmare... They refused to reimburse me, replace the Laptop or repare it... They telled me I only have a one year insurense coverage... I telled them the insurense does not have anything to do with Dell selling hazardous adapters that have coused electric chocks and destroied my Dell Laptop.
I have sent 2 complaint letters, the second certified after 3 weeks, becouse I didnt recieve an answer from Dell... Last week a representative from Dell... Called me on my cellphone telling me I will have nothing from them becouse the insuranse no longer cover, I asked her for a written respond to our complains. She hang up on me.
Now the only way as I see it is to sue Dell. Do you have any contact with the UK group or else know of someone with similare proplem. PC world have in a short notice published. I believe it was in december.
Now I also found out from Rip/off an UK group are suing DEll after finding out the 8000 Inspiron have a desktop powersystem. I will also add we the family bought 3 computers from Dell and we expect better service than we have recieved until now. Thanks for taking your time reading!
