Internet Opinion Group
Baited me, took advantage of my trust, emailed me vast amounts of spam, never responded to me once after they had my info

Internet & Web

One night, I was stupid enough to click through on one of those "Free Motorola Razor Cellphone" banners. My curiousity piqued, I filled out the info, signed up for a few trial offers, as they required, and waited to see what happened. I had a bad feeling when I checked my email. Lots of spam, and I'd never had a problem with spam before (I'm usually very careful). There was not, however, any kind of email from Internet Opinion Group.

So I went to their site, and tried the "check free gift status" link. I was asked for a password. This confused me, because I had not set up a password to begin with.

So, I filled out the form to get my password mailed to me. Several times. Over the course of several days.

Nothing but more spam.

So I went back to their site, and filled out the contact form, explaining what had transpired.

And I got a response! Oh, wait. It was a blank email. Nothing except... The word "bounce" in the from field.

I understand now. This whole thing was apparently an attempt to get my email address, and sign me up for the stupid ripoff offers they require you to do to get your "gift" (of spam).

I've canceled all the offers I signed up for (they charge your credit card if you don't). I'm still nervous that my card will get charged anyways. I'll keep posting.in the meantime, I'm gonna post this complaint on every freakin forum I come across. Not that it will matter. From the spectacular customer service I've seen at Internet Opinion Group, I assume they'll have changed their business name within a month or two, and be gone... But I'll have the spam (and this feeling of foolishness) for life!!!
