Ripoff Is it worth filing reports with the appropriate authorities in Maryland? Do you know if these "charges" will affect their credit rating?

My parents, who are quite elderly and live in Baltimore, Maryland asked me to help them when they received several bills from Premier Premium for alleged calls made to the UK (from their modem phone line number) at the end of October and early November '04. The charges totalled $160.

I told them to save the bills but not to pay them. I also notified AT&T (their line carrier) and had their number changed (perhaps a waste of time?). I sent an e-mail to PPC and also received an automotic e-mail acknowledgement with a ticket #. When no one responded several days later, I phoned them and repeatedly encountered: 1) a busy signal; or 2) if the call did go through, it was cut off while the "hold music" was playing.

My folks' PC subsequently crashed, and they just payed a wizard nearly $400 to have their hard drive purged. Is it worth filing reports with the appropriate authorities in Maryland? Do you know if these "charges" will affect their credit rating?
